The global tire market is characterized by an increasing variety. A growing number of vehicle types requires a greater number of tire types. Trends such as e-mobility and autonomous driving are also increasing demand for innovative concepts in tire production.

At the same time, it is necessary to meet today’s high requirements in terms of quality, safety, the “cradle-to-cradle cycle principle” and environmental standards. EASY SPLICE was developed for the tire industry to avoid manufacturing errors caused by tire building machines (TBM) and to support the traceability of the entire production process.

With the working distance of 1.5m (59in) and a solution for both the carcass and belt side of the tire building machine, EASY SPLICE can be used to inspect car, truck or aircraft tires. The surface speed of up to 6 m/s allows EASY SPLICE to be integrated even on the most advanced tire building machines.

Our sensor technology measures splices in real time with an accuracy of less than half a millimeter. The user can verify this at any time with our splice testers. This technology is suitable for car and truck tires. The large working distance of around 1.5m (59in) ensures accessibility to the tire building machine. The integration of EASY SPLICE into the PLC of the tire building machine is very simple and only requires the connection of a few, non-time-critical signals. A technically complex encoder on the construction machine is not necessary. Furthermore, the system monitors the width of the individual rubber layers across the entire area and detects many other defects such as folded edges (“dog-ears”). The integration of EASY SPLICE can be done within a few hours with any construction machine from different manufacturers.
